Specification:

White crystal with odorless, slight sweet. Soluble in water, but insoluble in ordinary organic solvent such as ethanol, and faintly soluble in methanol.

Applications:
Chiefly used in medicine. It has important physiological functions to human body such as to take part in the detoxification of liver and kidney, to protect liver from inflammation, to stimulate the increase of Bifidobaio-gen in the infant intestines, to treat rheumatoid arthritis and gastric ulcer, to control the growth of cell. It is then an important material for the synthe-sis of antibiotics and anticancer drugs, and is widely used in food, ffeed add-itives and cosmetic.
